  • Co-development partnership agreement signed between Lhyfe, one of Europe’s leading players in the production and supply of green hydrogen, and STRABAG, one of Europe’s leading construction and infrastructure groups.
  • The agreement comes at a pivotal moment for the German market, as the transposition of Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III) creates a regulated and predictable demand framework for RFNBO1 hydrogen.

Nantes (France) and Vienna (Austria), May 28, 2026 – Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), one of the world’s pioneers in the production of green hydrogen for the decarbonisation of industry and mobility, and STRABAG, a leading European technology group for construction services, have announced the signing of a strategic co-development partnership agreement for hydrogen projects. This Framework agreement aims to accelerate the development and implementation of green hydrogen projects in Germany, in an environment marked by the transposition of the Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III). Over time, it could be extended to other European countries.

Germany at the forefront of a structured and predictable European hydrogen market

This announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the hydrogen sector in Europe. Germany is currently transposing the Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III) into national law and is positioning itself among the most advanced markets in structuring demand for renewable hydrogen (RFNBO).

The introduction of binding targets encouraging the use of RFNBOs for certain industrial players is creating a regulated and predictable market framework.

This regulatory development marks a turning point for the sector as it significantly strengthens long-term demand visibility, thereby helping to accelerate investment decisions across the industry.

Combining Lhyfe’s operational expertise in green hydrogen with STRABAG’s recognised and long-standing expertise in construction to accelerate project development

The agreement between the two companies establishes a framework for collaboration, aimed at facilitating the identification, development and execution of future green hydrogen projects by combining their complementary expertise.

In 2025, Lhyfe became Europe’s largest producer of bulk RFNBO hydrogen from water electrolysis, meeting the EU’s highest sustainability standards. With four green hydrogen production sites already installed and RFNBO-certified, two additional sites under construction, a fleet of more than 80 Type 4 hydrogen containers—one of the largest and most modern bulk hydrogen transport fleets in Europe—and around fifteen storage sites, Lhyfe is one of Europe’s pioneering producers and suppliers of green hydrogen, with unmatched operational experience.

STRABAG is able to cover the entire lifecycle of construction projects — from structuring, planning and engineering through to execution and long-term operation. The Group also has extensive experience in financing and investment, helping to ensure the economic viability of projects and secure their long-term financing. At the same time, STRABAG actively advances modern infrastructure solutions and supports the development of more sustainable energy systems.

This partnership enables:

  • faster project planning and implementation;
  • targeted reduction of development and execution risks;
  • the advancement of hydrogen projects in Germany and, in the longer term, across Europe.

Wolfgang Zechmeister, Division Manager at STRABAGThis framework agreement is an exciting start to our partnership with Lhyfe that will deepen our project development in hydrogen. Green hydrogen is a valuable tool for decarbonising energy-intensive industries. STRABAG already has extensive experience in the construction of renewable energy infrastructure and will contribute to its further development.”

Luc Graré, Chief Strategy Officer at Lhyfe: “This partnership comes at a decisive moment for the market. Combining STRABAG’s industrial and construction expertise with Lhyfe’s experience as Europe’s largest producer of RFNBO hydrogen2 creates a strong foundation to accelerate project development and execution. This partnership with a leading player such as STRABAG also reflects the level of maturity reached by Lhyfe and the confidence placed in our industrial know-how.

About Lhyfe

Lhyfe is a European group devoted to energy transition, and a producer and supplier of green and renewable hydrogen. Through its production sites and portfolio of projects, it seeks to provide access to green and renewable hydrogen in industrial quantities, fostering a virtuous energy model that both decarbonises entire sectors of industry and transport and enhances regional energy sovereignty.

In 2021, Lhyfe inaugurated the first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant in the world to be interconnected with a wind farm. In 2022, it inaugurated the first offshore green hydrogen production pilot platform in the world. Since then, Lhyfe has installed four other production sites and has several sites under construction or extension across Europe. In September 2025, Lhyfe became Europe’s largest producer of bulk RFNBO hydrogen from the electrolysis of water.

Lhyfe is represented in 11 European countries and had 188 staff at the end of December 2025. The company is listed on the Euronext market in Paris (ISIN: FR0014009YQ1 – LHYFE).
