  • Green hydrogen producer and supplier Lhyfe plans to build production sites in Vaggeryd and Jordberga, supported by Sweden’s Klimatklivet fund.
  • These 10 MW projects would become Sweden’s two largest green hydrogen production sites dedicated to the bulk* market.
  • To complete this decisive FEED* phase, Lhyfe has partnered with Swedish hydrogen specialist Euromekanik and Norwegian electrolyser manufacturer Hystar.
  • The Final Investment Decision (FID) is expected to be taken in 2026.

Stockholm and Gothenburg (Sweden), Høvik (Norway), 21 October 2025 – 5:30 p.m.
Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE) – one of the world’s pioneers in the production of green and renewable hydrogen for the decarbonisation of mobility and industry – together with Euromekanik, a leading Swedish hydrogen systems integrator, and Hystar, a Norwegian manufacturer of next-generation PEM electrolysers, today announced their collaboration for Lhyfe’s projects in southern Sweden, located in Jordberga  and Vaggeryd.

With a capacity of 10 MW each, these two projects currently represent the most advanced large-scale renewable green hydrogen projects in Sweden dedicated to the bulk market.

A shared ambition to decarbonise industry and mobility while strengthening Sweden’s energy sovereignty

The three partners share the same ambition – to make large volumes of green hydrogen rapidly available in Sweden for industrial and mobility applications, while contributing to the country’s energy independence. Green hydrogen is produced by electrolysis of water*, powered by renewable energy.

Not all industrial and mobility players require huge volumes of hydrogen, nor does it always make sense for them to build their own production facilities. Centralised production sites – such as those in Jordberga and Vaggeryd – make it possible to supply an entire region and to support the concrete and rapid development of multiple hydrogen uses.

Bringing together the key expertise to move towards FID

Together, the three partners provide the key expertise essential to successfully developing a green and renewable hydrogen production project.

  • Lhyfe, a European producer and supplier of green hydrogen, has been operating since 2021, driven by a clear vision – to produce hydrogen offshore while reoxygenating the oceans. Lhyfe, which has just inaugurated its fourth production site in Europe, now operates 22 MW of electrolysis capacity and has been awarded RFNBO* certification for all its production assets. The company has also developed outstanding logistical capabilities, with a fleet of more than 70 Type IV trailers — one of the largest and most modern in Europe — enabling the delivery of green hydrogen across several European countries. Lhyfe established its Swedish branch in 2021.
  • Euromekanik is a long-established Swedish engineering company and a leading systems integrator for hydrogen projects in the Nordics, drawing on more than 50 years of experience in the energy and process industries. In the framework of this partnership, Euromekanik is responsible for the technical, financial and contractual preparation leading up to the Final Investment Decision.
  • Hystar makes highly efficient PEM electrolysers for large-scale production of green hydrogen. With its game-changing patented technology, Hystar plays a key role in accelerating the energy transition by enabling cost-effective green hydrogen.

Peter Rydebrink, CEO  Euromekanik AB: We are very happy to be a part of these hydrogen projects showing that the hydrogen market in Sweden is moving forward.  We are also very much looking forward to a deeper cooperation with Lhyfe and Hystar.

Fredrik Mowill, CEO Hystar: We are grateful to Lhyfe for placing their trust in Hystar by selecting us for this important project, which will help accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen across Europe. At Hystar, our mission is to make green hydrogen production more efficient, scalable, and reliable. Partnering with leading companies like Lhyfe and Euromekanik not only demonstrates confidence in our technology but also reinforces our shared commitment to a more sustainable energy future. We look forward to delivering a successful project together.

Sara Wihlborg, Country Manager for Sweden at Lhyfe:  “We’re excited to enter this new stage for our two major projects, Jordberga and Vaggeryd. The support provided by Euromekanik and Hystar is invaluable — it enables us to further secure these projects and move confidently toward a Final Investment Decision. Sweden needs to accelerate the development of green hydrogen, and together, we intend to play our part — contributing significantly and as quickly as possible to the decarbonisation and strengthening of our country’s energy sovereignty!”

*A few definitions

Electrolysis of water: Water electrolysis is an electrochemical process that separates water (H₂O) into its two components — hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂) — using an electric current.

RFNBO: RFNBO is the European Union’s most stringent standard for renewable hydrogen under the European Renewable Energy Directive. It certifies that the product is 100% renewable and complies with the environmental and traceability criteria that must be met by sustainable activities under the EU Taxonomy. The RFNBO certificate provides the customers with proof of the sustainability of the molecule purchased, thus enabling them to be eligible for national and European grant schemes.

Bulk: In the hydrogen industry, the “bulk” model refers to a central production unit from which hydrogen is delivered (as opposed to the “onsite” model where hydrogen is produced directly at the customer’s site. It’s delivered by road using tube trailers (high-pressure gas trailers) or, for larger volumes, cryogenic tankers (for liquid hydrogen).

FID: The “Final Investment Decision” is a key milestone in the development of an industrial or energy project

Before FID, the project is still in the study, design, financing, or negotiation phase. The FID marks the moment when all partners (investors, industrial players, authorities, financiers, etc.) officially confirm that they will commit the necessary funds to build the project. After FID, the project moves into the construction and execution phase.

FEED: The Front-End Engineering Design phase defines the technical and economic framework of the project, providing the detailed engineering basis required to reach the Final Investment Decision (FID).

About Lhyfe

Lhyfe is a European group devoted to energy transition, and a producer and supplier of green and renewable hydrogen.
