  • Lhyfe supplies the Essent hydrogen station in Deventer, as part of the GROHW project initiated by Essent, Nefit Bosch and partners.
  • The station will particularly supply Nefit Bosch, which yesterday inaugurated its testing centre dedicated to testing hydrogen boilers for the European market.
  • Lhyfe will provide Essent with renewable hydrogen under a multi-year supply contract.

Nantes (France) and Deventer (The Netherlands), 3 September 2025 Lhyfe (Euronext Paris – FR0014009YQ1 – LHYFE), one of the world’s pioneers in the production of  renewable hydrogen to decarbonize industry and mobility, announces it began delivering renewable hydrogen to Essent, the largest energy supplier in the Netherlands. This hydrogen is being used to power the GROHW project, one of the first renewable hydrogen projects in the Netherlands to be actually implemented.

Essent is the leading energy company in the Netherlands, supplying electricity and gas to around 2.5 million households, residential areas and businesses. Committed to the energy transition, the company is also leading a number of projects in the hydrogen sector, including the GROHW project in Deventer, the fruit of collaboration between Nefit Bosch, Essent, Firan and Witteveen+Bos. This initiative will help to develop a new green energy ecosystem and a new centre of expertise around renewable hydrogen.

Lhyfe is a producer and supplier of renewable hydrogen across Europe. Its hydrogen is produced by electrolysis of water at production sites powered by renewable electricity. Its first plant has been producing  renewable hydrogen for over 4 years, it now operates 4 production sites in France and Germany and it is developing numerous sites throughout Europe. In 2024, the Group made more than 470 deliveries to clients, with a 99% service rate, relying on its c.70 containers fleet. With its 2 world firsts (a site directly connected to wind turbines and using seawater, and an offshore production pilot), Lhyfe is playing a pioneering role in the sector and is involved in numerous innovation projects linked to current and future outlets forrenewable hydrogen.

As part of a contract already mentioned in Lhyfe’s 2024 half-year results, Lhyfe will provide Essent with renewable green hydrogen under a multi-year supply contract.

The GROHW partners aim to jointly advance solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions in the Netherlands. With this in mind, Lhyfe’s renewable hydrogen will be used in the testing centre of Nefit Bosch – a subsidiary of the international Bosch group – which is part of the GROHW project. This testing centre, located in Deventer is dedicated to testing various systems including hydrogen boilers. Lhyfe’s renewable hydrogen will be used to test these boilers. Bosch is indeed interested in hydrogen applications in the built environment sector, where it represents one of the potential alternatives to natural gas. The company aims to commercialize a “H2 Ready” combi boiler by 2029 that can be converted to renewable hydrogen.

Luc Graré, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at Lhyfe: ‘This first delivery to Essent marks the kick-off of our commercial activity in the Netherlands – a priority market for us – in the best possible way: with the country’s leading energy supplier. This collaboration also paves the way for new applications of renewable hydrogen through Nefit Bosch’s development – a very good news that confirms the dynamism of the sector. It is therefore an important step in our mission to make renewable hydrogen widely available and to support the decarbonisation of industry. We are proud to play our part with our green renewable hydrogen and our robust supply chain, relying on a large fleet of containers of up to 40 feet to meet Essent’s needs’.

In the Netherlands, Lhyfe has announced a 200MW project in 2022 in the Chemical Park Delfzijl , which aims to be operational by 2030 with an initial installed phase of 120MW, for applications in the chemical sector. This site would also be connected to the European backbone.
